Strategic Ventures Group
 

Founded in 1999, Strategic Ventures Group is a strategy advisory and venture development firm, which focuses on strategy formation, strongly aligned with effective execution, driving desired business results utilizing our Global Strategic Business System approach.  We have global experience spaning Fortunte100 to start-up entreneural ventures, in a broad range of industries including manufacturing, consumer retail, healthcare, and information technology.

We have global experience in 25 countries, and  provide business growth advisory services for an array of growth processes from new product development to acquisitive growth, as well as managing company divestitures.  

Our private equity investment capital arm seeks acquisition opportunities in small business and start-ups seeking an exit.  We have made investments in information technology, food services, and high value added business services.

 

Executive coaching is available on a selective basis to individuals seeking creative and analytical insight to career and daily business challenges.

Jim Hopkins, President

Jim Hopkins is a seasoned executive with over 40 years of business experience delivering results in a variety of business venues.  

 

Prior to founding Strategic Ventures Group in 1999, Mr. Hopkins served in a variety of Fortune 100 corporate executive management positions with extensive experience in leading businesses, venture development, information technology, global marketing, total quality management, and sales management. He has driven results in building, growing, and restructuring businesses, acquiring and divesting companies, developing and expanding markets and products, building and deploying total quality management tools, and in developing customer relationships and growing sales. He has also co-authored a book focused on creating, building, and measuring customer satisfaction.  A global business man, Mr. Hopkins has done business in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America and throughout North America.

 

Mr. Hopkins has been very involved in the academic arena. Since 2003, Mr. Hopkins has served on the faculty at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business as an adjunct instructor where he has taught a variety of senior level courses including entrepreneurship/new venture creation, small business management, strategic management, international strategic management, business ethics, and business leadership.

 

Mr. Hopkins is also very active in the business and local community.  In 2011, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Hospital Authority of Clarke County, GA and Athens Regional Health Services, Inc. where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of both organizations.  He served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce from 2009-2012, and served on the Finance Committee of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Hopkins served on the Salvation Army Board of Directors, and is active in the Rotary Club of Athens where he serves on the Board of Directors and was President from 2010-2011. He was honored with the Athens Rotarian Excellence award in 2009 and received the Rotary International Avenues of Service Citation for leadership service excellence in 2013. He also received the Athens Technical College 2014 O.W.L. Award for outstanding workforce leadership in his role as Acting CEO of Athens Regional Health System. He served on the Advisory Board of Clayburn Inc., a global refractory company based in Canada with facilities in Canada, the U.S. and China.
